The Tikar are a grouping of
ethnic people who reside mainly in the northwest
of Cameroon. Their beaded masks are very
distinctive and it forms an important part of
their culture. This fabulous and very
distinctive mask, whilst not an old piece, has
been meticulously carved and painstakingly
detailed with intricate beadwork and cowry
shells. Also very noticeable is the raffia woven
base. |
